Common problem #1: Not enough income

Common problem #2: Not enough free time

Do you know anyone with one of those 2 problems?  I did!  I had both problems.  The solution I came up with was to go into business for myself.  "Smart" I thought.  I took all my savings and borrowed money from family friends and banks and opened my own business.   "How hard can this be?"  After all, I had gone to college.  I had 2 degrees, not one! whatnow.wmf (11702 bytes) One year later, my first tax return showed a loss of only $27,000.  Not bad for my first year in business,  I actually had 2 real good months and things were starting to turn around.  Things were improving until one of "The big boys" got into the industry, then it got harder.  My wife got ill and the insurance did not cover a pre-existing condition.  Result?  My second year in business had a loss of $61,000.  "Well, things will get better" I kept on saying to myself, most businesses that make it start earning in their third year.  At least that is what I had heard somewhere.  The third year was only different in that the losses got trimmed to around $40,000.  There was now a good chance of breaking even in a year or two.  The only thing that stopped me was a small detail.  I ran out of money and credit.  So, as 90% of new small businesses I failed.

Did this approach solve problem #1?  No.  Did it solve problem #2?  No.  But it actually created 2 new problems.

New problem #3: Overwhelming debt

New problem #4: Overweight and stressed out

I was forced to look for work with my competition.   At least it put food on the table.  The hours were long and my co-workers and I were working nights and weekends, while the owner spent time with his family at home.   We were not even allowed to make personal calls, so I had to wait until I got home at 10 or 11 at night to learn if my son won his soccer game.

So I started looking again.  Buying an existing profitable business crossed my mind, but I needed to risk $10,000 or more (If I could ever again get my hands on that kind of money).  Someone told me a franchise would be best, but the start up money was high $20,000 to $80,000 for a good franchise.  Even if I could come up with the money, I would not be able to meet their net worth requirements.

Back to work next day so that Ed (The owner) could take his family on his yacht to Bahamas next weekend. He is making a ton, and I, with what I earn, could only afford to pay for fuel.  Pretty sad, considering a sail boat uses very little fuel! sailboat.wmf (10422 bytes)

Then, one day reading a book about money, I ran across a familiar name.  It was a common name in my native country.  It described how he had lost almost everything in his own business and then sold his TV and microwave to start with a Network Marketing company.  Hoping it was someone I knew, I contacted him.   It turns out that even though we were from the same town, we had not met.   This was another person.

Nevertheless, we started talking about the old country and found out that we had a few things in common in our past history.  The present was another story.  Unlike me, his financial problems were in the past.  He had moved into a nice home in a quiet town and was able to spend time with his kids and family.  He did not work long hours.  He also seemed healthy and not stressed out. reshouse.wmf (14964 bytes)AG00022_.gif (6188 bytes)

Call (800) 897-4342 phncord.wmf (2932 bytes) The inevitable question popped up.  I asked "How do you do this?  How can you earn decent money and still have the time to spend with your family?"  He was glad to tell me how he did it.  He asked me to call a number and request some information and that was it.  I followed his advice and now we work together.

Here is how my new business compares to my old one:

OLD BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS
Required an office and warehouse.  Also a phone and electricity and furniture.  Monthly cost of about $900 I use a room in my home and use the existing phone and electricity.  Although this carries no additional cost, my accountant says that in my case I am entitled to a tax deduction.
Business licenses and fees.  $100 a month Most localities have no requirements.  The few that do have minimal fees.
Business and liability insurance about $400 a month My homeowners insurance covers most of my needs
Book keeping and accounting to keep track of my loses.   About $80 a month I just hand my accountant the 1099 form I receive and it is included in his regular fee
To break even, I had to move about $30,000 in products each month.  Double that if I wanted to make a living. I can sell as much as I want, but even averaging $100 to $200 a month in personal sales could be enough to generate a decent income.
If I ever got sick or needed to take off, my overhead would keep on running at a pace of $3,000 a month.  That is money I would never again see.  Obviously, I never took a vacation.  When I got ill, it cost me an additional $100 a day! I can take off as often as I want.  Even if I go away, I can conduct my business from anywhere in the world that there is a phone.
I used $50,000 of my savings and borrowed another $50,000 to get started.  Then I took out an equity credit line loan on my paid off home that added $120,000 of debt! Most people get started with $250 to $750, although you could get started for under $50.  I invested $500, less than a week's overhead in my old business!

When I started my new business, I asked myself "What is the worst thing that could happen?"  The answer was, that I would be at the very least be getting some of the highest quality products available anywhere.   The best that could happen?  I would be solving common problems #1 and 2, as well as new problem #3.  New problem #4 is being taken care of as we speak!

I feel like I have climbed the biggest obstacle of my life and conquered it!

Oh yes!  This is not for everyone.  My partner and I will select only a few people to do this program this month.  To start your qualifying process, do not forget to call (800) 897-4342  right now!
